"Mon and I will be going home so YES
there will be a show...ROCK!!!!! " -Basti Artadi
(answer from the Villains thread at the Official Wolfgang Facebook Page) Wolfgang will launch their 6th studio album, VILLAINS this December 2008. Get ready to ROCK!!!! "Wolfgang VI" Timeline:January 6, 2007"RP Deathsquad" was played live for the 1st time at the Wolfgang-Razorback Alive 2007 gig at the Music Museum.January 12, 2007"RP Deathsquad" was again in the setlist of the 2nd Alive 2007 gig. This performance was to be included in the Alive 2007 DVD and audio CD (both still unreleased as of 7 PM, august 7, 2008)Manuel Legarda (guitarist) & Basti Artadi's (frontman) Thoughts on the Deathsquad premiere:"Deathsquad is a natural evolution," Manuel explained. "It's good that people still identify the song as 'a Wolfgang song.' But at the same time, I think there are some differences with the music now than from before. I'm not sure if I can pinpoint what exactly it is but definitely it has changed." "I think it's not the same," Basti said. "It's still heavy and fast but it's like where we would have gone if we decided to make an album right after Black Mantra."- Immortality of Wolfgang (Phil Daily Inquirer, Jan. 27 '07)March 16, 2007Wolfgang released 4 demo tracks in mp3 format: Deathsquad, Enemy, Diaspora and John of the Cross. This can be downloaded atYahoo music Phils.' wap site:http://wap.yahoo.com.ph/music"I really love the idea that we are featuring these demos on Yahoo. When you first listen to a rough cut of a song then hear the final version on the radio and spot the differences, it's as if you were part of the whole process of making the song. So it's something we want our fans to experience." - Manuel Legarda (from the Yahoo RP wap site) April 16, 2007Deathsquad made its on-air premiere at local rock station NU 107.5 FM. This single eventually manage to secure a spot at this station's daily countdown, "Stairway to Seven", with its highest placing at no. 2.November, 2007Deathsquad was included in the preliminary long list of nominees for Song of the Year at NU 107's annual Rock Awards.July, 2008Basti Artadi placed the teaser poster (see 1st photo) on his FRIENDSTER and MYSPACE profile.
Basti and bassist Mon Legaspi were both here in RP to record tracks for this much-awaited 6th studio album with RP-based guitarist Manuel Legarda and Monkeyspank drummer Francis Aquino (also the one who shared Wolfgang drummer duties with Razorback's Brian Velasco during the Alive 2007 gigs).
The evolution of VILLAINS: "We were writing on and off for almost a year since the Alive concerts. During this time it was mostly exchanging ideas back and forth to get the best feel for the songs. Actual vocal tracking was done here in the states, maybe about 3 months ago (this was written Oct 2008-aleck), these tracks were sent to Manuel. 2 weeks after that I went home to see family and during that time I was able to do massive re-recording for the parts that could have been better." - Basti Artadi August, 2008Basti Artadi placed another teaser poster (see 1st photo) on his FRIENDSTER and MYSPACE profile :-) He told me to say to all my fellow fans this:
"spread the word ... this album will be a KILLER!!!" -- Basti Artadi When asked at the discussion boards, Basti said that the album name, "VI-LLAINS" "... came up with the title early in the recording process, maybe while writing John of the Cross, it just popped into my head. Villains!!! I told Manuel and he liked it so much he even thought maybe we should call ourselves that if Mon wasn’t going to join. Mon joined so it became the album title. I later noticed that VI-llains started with the roman numeral 6 which sealed the deal since this was our 6th album. Plus I think its just a cool name." Basti also explained that they wanted VILLAINS to be the "next evolutionary step" on the journey Wolfgang had been travelling on. He emphasized, " We didnt want to come back with some popular trends incorporated in our music or shock people by having a jazz flute solo (haha) "October 2008

The band has been in hiatus for six years, but now iconic rock band Wolfgang returns with “The Black Christmas Project” concert at the Eastwood City Central Plaza, Libis (near Ortigas Avenue) on Dec. 10, Wednesday, 7 p.m.
The highly-anticipated “awakening” by the band is presented by No Fear, LevelUp, and Eastwood City, which is expected to reverberate with Wolfgang’s signature onslaught of thick ferocious sound.
Precision riffs, emphatic beats, power-drenched vocals, colorful licks, driving ostinatos, occasionally jazz-styled basslines and imaginative breaks merge with razor-sharp interplay in Wolfgang’s unique style of American-influenced hard rock, heavy metal, grunge and blues-rock.
Basti Artadi, Manuel Legarda, Mon Legaspi are joined by Francis Aquino at the year’s ultimate year-ender.
The guys’ ability to infuse everything they do — be it power ballads, progressive rock songs, bluesy tunes or their harder-hitting material — with strong melodic hooks has made it the only Filipino rock act to be released in both the USA and Japan. Wolfgang is also the only Filipino heavy metal act to breach platinum records on home ground and receive more than 20 group and individual awards for creative virtuosity.
What can fans expect? Says frontman Basti Artadi, “Expect lots of singing, dancing, drinking and all-around head-banging because it’s gonna be a hell of a party!”
Tickets are now on sale at Ticketnet (911-555). For reservations, visit ticketnet.com.ph. source: Philstar, Young Star Section, Nov. 14, 2008 |

 | Whatever happened to "Wolf" Gemora? paensya na, ignoramus na ako sa Wolfgang.. I have 4 of their albums, I stopped upon hearing Black Mantra.

 | 1. How are you and what have you been busy with? I learned from Basti that you aren't the drummer on "Villains" and that Locomotiv has disbanded, so what happened how come you aren't part of the album?
I'm doing alright. I haven't been active with anything musically for awhile now. Lokomotiv has already broken up since last year. It was financially too hard to keep the band going after the Philippine tour and I personally was having a hard time adjusting to playing in half-empty bars in L.A. again after having a successful tour and playing to big crowds in Manila and the provinces. I've been playing drums with live bands for 20 years already and I had to take a break from everything and slow things down. I still pound the skins in my garage to keep from getting rusty.
I did not play drums on the upcoming WG album. They (Manuel, Basti & Mon) started planning this project after the 'Alive' shows in '07 and Lokomotiv was my main priority at the time. I don't think I would have been much help either since I was mentally and emotionally drained to work in two very different and very intense bands.
2. Im not too familiar with your relationship with the rest of Wolfgang but im assuming you guys are all still friends, any chance you'll be playing drums with them this december being that you're all going to be here?
Yes, we're friends. I won't be part of the shows in December since I wasn't part of the project from the start. It would be unfair to the rest of the guys if I just forced my way back in without having been part of the long and challenging process to produce that album. I give them my full support, though. It's still a Wolfgang release and I am part of that legacy.
3. The "Alive" concert was quite a success, why weren't you a part of it?
I had to prioritize Lokomotiv at the time because the Lokomotiv tour was the main reason I was in the Philippines. I also had a nagging fear that if I did the WG shows, Lokomotiv would not have been taken seriously by the rock fans because of the enormity and publicity of a Wolfgang reunion. It was a hard decision to make.
4. Are you familiar with Wolfgang's other plans and will you be working with them in the future?
I think they're gonna do a couple of shows to promote the new album. It would be great to work with them again, of course. We've been on different paths for the past two years. Hopefully, our paths will meet again. I miss playing the Wolfgang stuff with the guys and I miss playing for the fans. Maybe 2009 will be the year. ;)
